2 oz good-quality rye or bourbon
1/2 oz simple syrup
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
1 maraschino cherry
Half dollar sized orange peal

In old-fashioned glass, combine liquid ingredients and add ice. Express orange peal over drink and stir until cold. Garnish with cherry.
